GLENNON BROTHERS SUPPLY HOME GROWN TIMBER TO PRESTIGIOUS ARCHITECTURAL EXHIBITION IN VENICE

Glennon Brothers is delighted to be the supplier of home grown timber for a unique Irish entry to the Venice Biennale 13th International Architecture exhibition.

The Biennale is the most important event on the international contemporary architecture calendar and is held in locations around Venice. National participants from forty one countries are showcasing their work at this year’s exhibition.

Irish architectural firm O’Donnell and Tuomey, have submitted “Vessel” as their entry using home grown timber supplied by Glennon Brothers. “Vessel” is a site specific response to the exhibition theme of “Common Ground”, and the Vessel celebrates Irish craft, material and tradition.

As part of the collaborative process, the architects have enlisted the support of representatives of the literary and craft communities including: Seamus Heaney, poet and Nobel Laureate; Joseph Walsh, furniture maker; Tim Robinson, writer and cartographer; and Martin Hayes, musician and composer.

Glennon Brothers have long pioneered innovative uses for home grown timber and The Venice Biennale has provided an ideal opportunity to display the flexibility and quality of home grown timber to an international audience. The use of traditional craftsmanship and state of the art technology has created a unique and thought provoking piece.
